Biography

Kacy Jung, who immigrated to the United States from Taiwan, was halfway through a Ph.D. program in biomedical science when she decided to leave the laboratory to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. Since then, through photography, photo-based sculpture, and material experimentation, she has explored themes of the harmful social norms, belonging, female identity, and the ongoing process of re-homing. Drawing from her experience as an immigrant, Jung examines how identity is continually negotiated, reshaped, and reconstructed under shifting cultural, social, and personal landscapes. 

Kacy is a recipient of the Harlan Jackson Diversity Scholarship from the San Francisco Art Institute, Ox-Bow, Headlands Center for the Arts, as well as a studio artist at Root Division. Kacy’s works have been featured in publications such as USA Today, Cultured Magazine, Forbes, and Inquire. Her works are also shown at the Untitled Miami Basel, Bakersfield Museum of Art, Berkeley Art Museum, De Young Museum in San Francisco, Hastings College in Nebraska, and multiple galleries or private collections in the UK, USA, and Taiwan.

Kacy has an MFA in photography from the SFAI. Most recently, Jung was nominated for the SFMOMA SECA Art Award in 2023 and 2025. She currently works and lives between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Kacy Jung 來自台灣，移民美國後在攻讀生物醫學博士期間，決定離開實驗室，追尋成為藝術家的終身夢想。自此，她透過攝影、攝影雕塑（photo-based sculpture）與材料實驗，探討社會規範、異化、歸屬、女性身份，以及持續「重新尋家」（re-homing）的過程。從自身移民經驗出發，她關注身份如何在社會期待、文化變遷與個人生命經驗之間，不斷被協商、重塑與重新建構的過程。

Kacy 曾獲舊金山藝術學院 Harlan Jackson 多元獎學金，並於 Ox-Bow、Headlands Center for the Arts 與 Root Division 擔任駐村或進駐藝術家。她的作品刊登於 USA Today、Cultured Magazine、Forbes、Inquire 等媒體，亦曾於 Untitled Art Miami Beach、Bakersfield Museum of Art、柏克萊藝術博物館、舊金山 de Young 美術館、內布拉斯加州 Hastings College 及歐美台多地畫廊與私人收藏或展出。

Kacy 畢業於舊金山藝術學院（San Francisco Art Institute），取得攝影藝術碩士（MFA）學位。她曾獲舊金山現代藝術博物館（SFMOMA）2023 與 2025 年 SECA 藝術獎提名。目前生活與創作於舊金山及洛杉磯兩地。
